FTE requirement modeling

Fact-based capacity demand

We calculate required FTE and capacity from measurement data.

Problem

Headcount estimates are uncertain, leading to over- or under-capacity.

Solution

We build an FTE model with scenarios to support reliable capacity planning.

Our approach

From JC360 measurements and standard time calculations we build an FTE requirement model supporting workload and headcount optimization and future planning.

We can model mixed workloads across different processes and include future or phased load scenarios.

We also model the uplift from bringing lagging productivity up to the average (or any target), translating gained productive hours into an FTE-equivalent increase (a virtual FTE gain through better use of existing resources).

Use cases

  • Capacity planning – true capacity demand
  • Headcount optimization – balance over/underload
  • Cost planning – FTE-based budgeting
  • Outsourcing decisions – make/buy evidence
  • Organization growth – scaling scenarios

Steps

  1. Define scope
  2. Measurement
  3. Standard time validation
  4. FTE model build
  5. Workshop
  6. Consulting report (PDF) handover

Requirements

  • Contract signed at start
  • IT support for client installation
  • Capacity and volume data
  • Weekly 1-hour workshop

Deliverables

  • FTE model
  • Capacity scenarios
  • Planning recommendations
