Transaction standard time

How long a transaction really takes

Unit cost and standard time calculation from real work patterns.

Problem

Without standard time and unit cost baselines, SLA and capacity planning stay uncertain.

Solution

We deliver a standard time table and unit cost benchmark to anchor planning.

Our approach

We calculate actual standard time requirements for transactions from JC360 data.

The measurement delivers net effort time: it counts only transaction-related tasks, filters out unrelated work, and includes out-of-system steps when they belong to the transaction. By describing entry points and transaction-related activities, we get a precise view of net effort time and traversal paths.

Transaction standard times can be measured by any breakdown (e.g., type, complexity, deadline), existing standards can be tested, and new benchmarks can be created. Deviation from transaction averages can be embedded as KPI inputs into other service measurements. This supports capacity planning and SLA design with reliable benchmarks.

Use cases

  • Complaint handling – unit cost and SLA baseline
  • Billing management – per-transaction standard time
  • Ticket handling – complexity-based benchmark
  • Data entry – standard time planning

Steps

  1. Define transaction types
  2. Measurement
  3. Standard time calculation
  4. Validation
  5. Report
  6. Consulting report (PDF) handover

Requirements

  • Contract signed at start
  • IT support for client installation
  • Transaction definitions
  • Weekly 1-hour workshop

Deliverables

  • Standard time table
  • Unit cost estimate
  • Benchmark recommendations
